01. Design Thinking
I approach design methodically, by tracing an assignment back to the core problem its aiming to solve. That said, I believe that every design element of a product, including UI, copy, interactions, and tone, should speak the same language. I believe design thinking does not exist in a vacuum.
02. UX Writing
With a background in copywriting and copyediting, I spearhead writing tasks as part of a design team. I believe accessible language is clear, kind, and colloquial. Bad copy can derail expert design, so it is imperative to UX success that the two are aligned.
03. Strategy
As part of early teams, my design experience was never divorced from high-level strategy. I appreciate understanding the big picture, while also digging into the fine details. I want to understand how my team's goals are connected to company goals at large.
04. Components
I believe in working smart, not just hard. While early startups do not need full design systems, they should assemble thoughtful component libraries on an as-needed basis. I am confident designing components from scratch or redesigning existing components to improve usability.
